Hurricane Sandy showcased that, even with almost exact watches and warnings, public and some local official response was not what we, in the meteorological community, wanted to see.
There are a myriad of reasons why this happens on a routine basis and during many critical weather events and why, in some circumstances, the response is far more to our liking.
We've been exploring this for years as part of our ongoing efforts in learning, outreach, mentoring and more. We'd like to share these insights with the broadcast community and challenge attendees at this conference to take our Warning Call To Action message back home with them.
