Bill Read is the tropical expert for KPRC-TV in Houston and also serves as a meteorologist consultant. Bill retired as Director of the National Hurricane Center in 2012 after a long and distinguished career in the NWS. In the NWS Bill was Meteorologist in Charge of the NWS Forecast Office in Houston Texas, Severe Storms & Flash Flood Program Leader at NWS HQ in Silver Springs MD, Forecaster at NWS Fort Worth and San Antonio, and in the NWS Test and Evaluation Division in Sterling VA. Bill has his masters in Meteorology from Texas A&M University and is a member of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association. His has been recognized for numerous awards, most recently for the Neal Frank award given at the National Hurricane Conference this past April.
