Mariaelena Bartesaghi is Associate Professor of Communication at the University of South Florida. Her research examines how organizations and institutions are constituted in communication - analyzing language is use from transcripts of interaction, documents, and images collected from fieldwork. Her work focuses on institutional power in health settings, education, and for the last few years, the unfolding of Hurricane Katrina as unnatural disaster.
