Forecasting & broadcasting for the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coasts for 30 years, the author will present experiences dealing directly with Hurricanes Andrew, Lili, Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ike, Isaac and Tropical Storm Allison that have ravaged Cajun Country and the dynamic coast of Southern Louisiana. Cultural attitudes, resilience and demographic responses to repeated storms are addressed. Keys to forecasting a storm, preparing a community, and personally surviving the demands of wall-to-wall coverage and significant multi-day events will be presented.
