The National Weather Service has 11 national centers that develop and apply expertise on specific challenges. This is accomplished through specialized forecast products and services, support to all NWS field offices, as well as development, innovation, research, and outreach to core user groups. Collectively, the national centers have a broad responsibility that extends from the surface of the sun, to Earth’s atmosphere, to the global oceans. This session will offer attendees a unique opportunity to interface with many of the national centers to:
- Understand their products, services, and evolving risk communication practices
- Discover how center personnel can help you cover major storms and breaking news, including highlights of topics that could become major news stories
- Learn how center personnel can provide a service to you as a knowledgeable, trusted resource, including tips on where to find good information and educational resources
In addition to these great updates, you'll also hear an important update from the HazSimp Program - NWS advisories are evolving, and we know that could impact your coverage. We welcome you to come learn more, and share your thoughts about the changes.
