Analysis of three channel Lidar data Correlation and its impact on aerosol size characterization of the atmosphere using UPRM Lidar data

Mariano Martes, University of Puerto Rico/NOAA/CREST, San Juan, PR; and C. A. Lizarraga and H. Parsiani

The correlations of the three UPRM Lidar channels data were analyzed. The Lidar data correspond to 355, 532, and 1064nm wavelengths, obtained from the western part of Puerto Rico. The correlation values and aerosol size distribution were used to observe the aerosol size detection capabilities of each channel. The channel capabilities determined aids in separating clouds of Saharan dust, aerosol layers, volcanic ashes, and other regional particles. Histogram is used to determine the correlation matrices measuring the statistical relationship among the channels. This analysis is useful in improvements of the Lidar data acquisition.
