A series of six aviation biased weather manuals covering the seven aviation graphical forecast areas of Canada have been produced. These manuals describe the weather systems applicable to each area and the "local" weather including seasonal affects. The work, funded by NAV CANADA, was done by meteorologists of the Meteorological Service of Canada. For the Canadian Arctic, meteorologists went "north" and gathered information through interviews with pilots, dispatchers, Flight Service Specialists, National Park Wardens and others. The meteorologists also mined information from their fellow meteorologists, climate data, and existing studies. The presentation shares an overview of the project, how the research was carried out and the information garnered for the Canadian Arctic. The focus will be on the field trips to the aviation hubs in the Canadian Arctic and the information gained there.
