National Weather Service (NWS) National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP)

NMAP is used operationally at the NCEP service centers to display meteorological data and to generate graphical forecast products. The program is also used operationally in AWIPS by NWS forecast offices in the Pacific and Alaskan Regions to support their graphical product generation requirements, and by the River Forecast Centers to support the Quantitative Precipitation Forecast program. In addition, the software is distributed to the U.S. university community by UCAR's Unidata program. This paper presents an overview of NMAP functionality, recent enhancements, and improvements planned for the near future.
