ONLINE (AND OFFLINE) WEATHER STUDIES
Charles J. Fuller, Triton College, River Grove, IL
The geography program in the Social Sciences Department of Triton College, a community college in the Illinois system, offers a one-semester introductory Weather & Climate course (GEO200). The course is taught as a 4-credit lab science. In Fall 2003 the instructor switched to the AMS Online Weather Studies materials and offered two sections of the course: a standard lecture/lab section, and a self-study version that will evolve into a full internet course over a two-to-three semester period. This poster presentation compares the formats for both versions, and illustrates the anticipated transition of the independent learning version to a full Internet course.
