Web-based Learning Module for Undergraduate Science Students
Hall 4AB
The Cooperative Program for Operational Meteorology, Education and Training (COMETâ), and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) High Altitude Observatory (HAO) have teamed up to develop a web-based learning module that introduces undergraduate science students to the physics of the sun-earth system, including space weather and related prominent effects on human activities.
The three primary audiences for this module are undergraduate science students, professors who teach space weather-related classes (astronomy, physics, meteorology, etc.), and space weather forecasters.
Through use of narratives, interactive visualizations, hands-on physics applications, and high-quality graphics and imagery, this module will strive to capture the imaginations of prospective scientists and generate interest in space weather, solar-terrestrial science and related fields. Additionally, this module is specifically designed to aid University faculty by providing teaching materials and tools, such as illustrations, simulations, and homework exercises to supplement their current undergraduate courses.
