The use of climate information, products, and forecasts has increased in many business-related operational and planning decisions due to improved understanding of the weather and climate, enhanced technology, and an interdependent global community that is ever more reliant on decisions impacted by weather and climate issues. The overall theme associated with effective transfer of climate knowledge into user decisions is that interactions and research conducted with and for commercial business decision makers should be "user centered". Partnerships involving government agencies, academics, and private-sector meteorologists will enhance the development of "value-added" climate information as well as individualized decision models for specific users.
