Demonstration of a methodology for routine observing system design
Room 6A
The underlying theory behind a novel algorithm for designing routine observing systems will be demonstrated. The dynamical and statistical relevance of the algorithm will be shown in a simple model context. The algorithm can be used to determine near optimal locations of fixed observations, or to assess potential ‘value’ of new observations of a system. Results will also be shown for a dry primitive equation model on the sphere.
