Datastreme in San Diego: A teacher enhancement program in the Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
Hall 4AB
Through the American Meteorological Society's Datastreme Project online teacher enhancement program educators are bringing Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences into their classroom in ways that were just imagined a few years ago. Teachers are taking the skills and information learned in these programs back into their classrooms and communitites where the students are learning to "super cool" water and how this effects clouds. They learn about the effects of El Nino and La Nina on their own and global climates.
The Datastreme project is an online course offered by New York State Univesity Brockport where teachers sign up and are mentored through the course by master teachers in their area. These Master teachers provide them with the materials and guidance throughout the course.
This is a program sponsored by NOAA and the American Meteorological Society.
