The NOAA center for atmospheric sciences at Howard University
Hall 4AB
The U.S. Department of Commerce established four NOAA cooperative science centers through its $15M educational partnership program with minority-serving institutions (EPP/MSI)in 2001. The Howard University Atmospheric Sciences Cooperative Science Center was established to research some of the critical environmental conditions occurring nationally and globally. The other institutions are City College of the City University of New York, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. Howard’s partners are Jackson State University, the University of Texas at El Paso, and the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez.
The NOAA Center in Atmospheric Sciences (NCAS) has been designed to focus efforts on developing weather research and applications, outreach programs of significant impact, and educational opportunities for a diverse pool of students
This poster highlights the accomplishments and activities of the NCAS to date, the impact on the partner institutions' educational programs, and research.
