35th Conference on Broadcast Meteorology

Blogging from the weather center-Is it worth your time?

Mark Nelsen, KPTV, Portland, OR

The workload for broadcast meteorologists continues to increase from year to year. One new idea (within the broadcast news world) is to have the meteorologist "blog" or basically put his thoughts into text each day and post it to the internet, generally onto the TV station's web page. KPTV in Portland, Oregon began a blog in December 2005, with postings at least once a day, sometimes more. We'll take a look at the numbers, the problems we encountered the first few months, and find out if it's really worth your time to create a blog. Past examples of our & other station's blogs will be shown.wrf recording  Recorded presentation
