Diurnal Cycle Variations if Precipitation over the Americas
214B (Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center)
We examine the diurnal characteristics in rainfall over the Americas using hourly, high resolution satellite/rain gauge integrated analyses of precipitation. Detailed regional examinations are made that reveal intricate features over North and South America. We also assess the ability of short-range numerical model forecasts of precipitation to mimic the diurnal variations that are observed in nature.
