Impact of airborne Doppler radar data on the numerical simulation of Hurricane Dennis (2005)
Xuanli Li, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT; and Z. Pu and J. Sun
The reflectivity and radial velocity retrievals from airborne Doppler radar are assimilated into high resolution numerical simulation of Hurricane Dennis (2005) using WRF model and its 3DVAR system. The impact of the radar data on storm inner core microphysics properties and convection distributions, as well as the forecasts of hurricane intensity, track, and storm dynamic, thermodynamic structures will be examined. Results will be presented at the conference. Recorded presentation
