Discoveries and Breakthroughs Inside Science-STEM Education for the General Public
Exhibit Hall B (Ernest N. Morial Convention Center)
Emilie Lorditch, American Institute of Physics, College Park, MD
As a primary source of news, more people rely on local TV news than any other medium. The American Meteorological Society has partnered with the American Institute of Physics in their production of Discoveries and Breakthroughs Inside Science (DBIS). DBIS are 90-second science news segments that are aired during the local news broadcast in television markets throughout the country. Approximately 4 of these segments each month focus on meteorology research.

This session will give you the chance to meet the senior science editor of DBIS, learn why the AMS got involved and how they work with the program. Also, find out how you can become involved with DBIS by submitting story ideas, recommending experts to feature or consult, and volunteering for script review.
