How much regional and global climate change can be avoided: Mitigation and adaptation policies

Policymakers and the public keep asking how much global and regional climate change can be avoided by a large reduction in emissions of greenhouse gases. Also, they want to know how can global and regional temperature change be stabilized at near its present state. This presentation discusses new climate change simulations along with their impacts from a recently developed low emission greenhouse gas scenario. Changes in global and regional temperature, precipitation, Arctic sea ice, sea level, and permafrost will be presented along with a discussion of both adaptation and mitigation aspects.
