Darryn W. Waugh, Johns Hopkins Univ., Baltimore, MD; and V. Eyring and T. G. Shepherd

This presentation will give an overview of the SPARC Chemistry-Climate Model Validation (CCMVal) project, with particular focus on the recent Report on the Evaluation of Chemistry Climate Models. This report presents a comprehensive assessment of the performance of stratospheric-resolving CCMs, and their projections. A key component of CCMVal is the application of observationally-based performance metrics to quantify the ability of models to reproduce key processes. The results of this evaluation and the projections for ozone and its impact on climate will be summarized.
