The Joint Polar Satellite System will launch the NPOESS Preparatory Project (NPP), a risk reduction and data continuity mission, prior to the first operational JPSS launch. The NPP platform will carry five remote sensing instruments, covering the electromagnetic spectrum from microwave to visible, and generating Environment Data Records (EDRs) for Aerosol, Ocean, Land, Cryosphere, Sounding, and Cloud disciplines. In this presentation an overview of NPP data products will be given,: including the algorithms, input/output and ancillary needed; the latest performance estimates; the cal val planning updates. The system tools and sample datasets available for users' readiness will also be highlighted. The main objective for this presentation is two folds: on one hand we want to introduce the latest developments for the data products from the next generation polar orbiting satellites; on the other hand, more importantly we want to get the feedback from users on how to better serve their operational and research needs.
