Kenneth H. Underwood, Atmospheric Systems Corporation, Santa Clarita, CA

The relationship between the study of meteorology and a job is not always clear. Most (if not all) Meteorologists are enthusiastic about the weather especially severe weather conditions such as hurricanes, tornados, squalls, heavy snow storms, etc. There are opportunities to work in these areas but the competition is tough. And in general the opportunities are not expanding. The recent emphasis on renewable energy sources opens a whole new field to meteorologists. Of the renewable energy sources, wind energy is perfect match for many aspiring applied meteorologists. The author will review some of his own path into field of wind energy and describe his understanding of the job opportunities today and tomorrow.
