The Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) is the primary instrument for the GOES-R mission which will deliver the Key Product Parameter (KPP) of Cloud and Moisture Imagery as well as a large number of application products. The calibration and validation of ABI radiance/reflectance measurements is critical to the quality of all products including the KPP. This presentation provides an overview and recent progress made in the prelaunch calibration of ABI, ground system calibration support, and postlaunch calibration preparation, including the collaborative efforts with the NIST on establishing the prelaunch calibration traceability and reducing radiometric/spectral uncertainties. Preliminary results for the ABI Proto Flight Model (PTM) will be briefed and future plans will be introduced. The GOES-R cal/val effort is led by the GOES-R Program Systems Engineering (PSE) and is coordinated throughout all segments of the GOES-R program with several participating member organizations to ensure the GOES-R ABI data quality.
