Advances in Long-Term High Spatial and Temporal Resolution Cloud Climate Records From PATMOS-x Using NOAA's LEO and GEO Imagers
Room 257 (New Orleans Convention Center )

The NOAA Pathfinder Atmospheres Extended (PATMOS-x) has expanded to include data from the GOES Imagers in addition to data from the POES Imagers (AVHRR). This talk will demonstrate how advances in calibration and processing have led to improved cross-sensor consistency in the cloud climate records. With addition of POES, the 30-year 4-times per day AVHRR record is augmented with data every 30 minutes over the GOES domains. Currently, the GOES record stretches from 2006 to 2010 in PATMOS-x. PATMOS-x also provides these records at the relatively high spatial resolution of 10 km. This talk will demonstrate the applications that are currently using this data and the scientific questions being addressed.
