Integrating Non-Traditional Environmental Data Sources Via Uframe™ Framework
Room 245 (New Orleans Convention Center )
uFrame™ is the core Service Oriented Architecture software framework that is the foundation of the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System II (AWIPS II). We will explore how this flexible framework can be leveraged to integrate non-traditional remote sensed data sources for analysis and situational awareness. We will discuss the development of data and visualization plug-ins for theJPSS NPOESS Preparatory Project (NPP), the Earth Observing System (EOS) and the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission. We will focus on the development of processing capabilities for the following sensors: the NPP Visible/Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite (VIIRS), the EOS Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for EOS (AMSR-E), the EOS Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS), and the TRMM precipitation radar within this framework. Case studies to be discussed include displaying several products derived from AMSR-E (Ice Concentration, Soil Moisture) and examples of processing all levels of MODIS (including Level 1 - raw data, Level 2 - cloud top temp and Level 3 - surface temp, vegetative index, land use type).
