McIDAS-V, developed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Space Science and Engineering Center, is a free, open source software package which displays weather satellite and other geophysical data in 2- and 3-dimensions. Multiple GOES-R Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) satellite-based aviation decision support products that include detection of convective indicators and aircraft visibility flight conditions have been developed in support of the GOES-R aviation requirements and assessed within NOAA national center proving ground testbeds. A brief overview of these varied products, which assess meteorological hazards to aircraft, will be presented. The focus of this presentation will include how McIDAS-V can help in the visualizing and validation of these products.
