During the summer of 2010 and 2011, the FAA Aviation Weather Group sponsored the operational evaluation of a convective weather forecast called CoSPA. CoSPA is an FAA sponsored, developmental 0-8 hour high resolution forecast, designed specifically for aviation users and NAS Traffic Flow Management. The CoSPA forecast was provided to multiple FAA Air Traffic Control facilities and Airline Operation Centers for the severe thunderstorm season. The FAA plans to continue sponsoring the development of CoSPA and the maintenance of a live prototype.

This presentation will summarize the results of the 2010 and 2011 evaluations, the continued operation of the CoSPA live prototype, and plans for additional development and evaluation.
