The operational production of useful climatology information is valuable when integrated into the planning of operations by the U.S. Navy and other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies. The Climatology Division at Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FLENUMMETOCEN), located in Monterey, CA, is able to provide climatology support for their DoD customers. The Climatology Division archives several numerical atmospheric and wave models that are run at FNMOC, as well as a suite of atmospheric and ocean reanalysis models. Our team members are able to create tailored climatology products by performing statistical analyses on these models in order to provide information about the climate system. Our team also maintains the Advanced Climate Analysis and Forecasting (ACAF) support system, located on the Navy Enterprise Portal (NEP-Oc), which is in an interactive GUI that allows the user to analyze and plot several atmospheric and oceanographic parameters around the globe. Our team also maintains hundreds of regional and seasonal climatology briefs for various locations of interests around the world. The Climatology Division is also working to improve climatology support by updating the climatology briefs, adding new features to the ACAF, and using state of the science data sets and methods to create tailored climatology products for the Fleet.
