Cloud and humidity analysis is extreme important to severe weather prediction. The error covariance of cloud and humidity usually does not follow Gaussian distribution. It would be great improvement for short-range forecast if satellite radiance, particularly cloudy radiance, into a multiscale analysis. In this study, the Community Radiative Transfer Model (CRTM) is used in a multiscale analysis system for evaluating its cloudy radiance analysis capability of improving severe weather forecasts, including GOES-R and ATMS. Numerical results will be presented.
