Becoming a weather-ready Nation is about building community resilience in the face of increasing vulnerability to extreme weather. Released in April 2012, the National Weather Service “Weather-Ready Nation Roadmap” describes transformational activities the agency will undertake to advance the goal of becoming a weather-ready Nation. Public comments on the “Roadmap” were received and reviewed during the summer of 2012, along with the National Academy of Science study “Weather Services for the Nation – Becoming Second to None”, and incorporated into a second version of the Roadmap. This presentation provides an update and overview of the NWS “Weather-Ready Nation Roadmap” and the associated Execution Plan.
