The realities of a warming climate jeopardize the overall health of many of the communities we live and work in. This summer, the hottest on record, has brought with it a rash of extreme weather events such as drought, excessive heat, and wild fires as well as increased health impacts and hospitalizations. Healthcare is both on the front lines of climate change community response and is in a position to help educate and public regarding the links between climate change and health. Gary Cohen, president of Health Care Without Harm, will describe, through case studies, how hospitals and health systems in the U.S. are implementing preparedness strategies as well as embedding climate resiliency into their facilities and practices.
