Years of studies at Camp Blanding suggest that there is a very good (10%-20%) correlation between the magnitude of radiated fields and peak currents. To absolutely calibrate ENTLN radiated field measurements, we compared them to a flat plate antenna installed in flat ground. To measure the uncertainty in our source of truth (the flat plate antenna), we compared it to another flat plate antenna 6 kilometers away. Our two sources of "truth" disagreed more with each other than our 650 ENTLN antennas disagreed with each other, leading us to investigate flat plate antenna behavior. We found that our flat plate antennas were not omnidirectional, despite every appearance of being installed in flat ground.
