Using web services and Open Geospatial tools to recreate the Aviationweather.gov website

New FAA and NWS strategic priorities have resulted in a rapid evolution of the AWC's mission that requires transformed and modernized web services consistent with the operational Interactive Decision Support Services as outlined in Weather Ready Nation and the NWS NextGen planning. This requires several steps for the AWC which include a cost-effective and easy-to-maintain web integration between existing and future content provided on www.AviationWeather.gov, the expansion of the operational mission to provide agile and scalable services to our domestic and international customers, the application of modern Open Geospatial Consortium standards, the upgrade of the public face of Aviation Weather to match the appearance standards established by NOAA and the NWS which includes support for mobile platforms, and the unification and simplification of the user experience on the web site.
