OSCAT-scatterometer onboard Oceansat-2 from India Space Research Organization (ISRO) was launched in 2009. In this study, 50km OSCAT data is assimilated to NCEP GDAS/GFS. Quality control procedures are developed for assimilating OSCAT surface winds into GSI. Two season experiments are performed to demonstrate the impact of OSCAT assimilation. The verification statistics of OSCAT assimilation show positive impact from the analyzed time period. Comparisons are made for ASCAT assimilation at the same time period as well.
