The Nation runs on environmental satellites, and the products and services derived from satellite data influence decisions made every day by individuals, businesses, and communities. NOAA and its satellites provide data supporting healthy oceans, weather, climate, coastal communities, and ecosystem services which is used daily by decision makers and emergency managers. Also, an increasing number of U.S. economic sectors are recognizing the impacts of weather, water, and climate on their operations and are becoming more sophisticated at using weather-related information to make better decisions.
Ms. Kicza will provide an overview of today's operational environmental satellite constellation, NOAA's near-term plans to maintain continuity of these systems, and emerging understanding of the economic and societal value of our work.
