NOAA's National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service (NESDIS) acquires and manages civilian operational Earth-observing satellites for the U.S. In May 2013 the NESDIS Satellite Product and Services Review Board (SPSRB) implemented higher process maturity guidelines to support integration of software systems from research to operational platforms. This presentation describes the guidelines and presents examples of how they reduced the overhead of creating large number of documents and reports while maintaining accountability to all stakeholders. In addition, lessons learned and recommendations for others with similar research to operations needs will be presented.
