Blog Posts and Tweets about Satellite Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) facilitate CIMSS's important goal of outreach and education. Several Blogs, twitter accounts, a facebook page and a YouTube Channel are all used together and separately to provide information to the public and to forecasters. Five different types of blog posts will be described, as well as their intended audiences and hoped-for effect as demonstrated with high-profile examples. In addition, the blog traffic will be depicted, and a formula by which the tweets, blog posts and YouTube videos are created.
