Siphon is a Unidata developed Python library for accessing data from THREDDS Data Servers. The THREDDS Data Server (TDS) is a web server that provides metadata and data access for scientific datasets, using a variety of remote data access protocols. While the most well known remote data access protocol is likely OPeNDAP (DAP2), the TDS also enables access via the NetcdfSubset Service, CdmRemote, DAP4, WMS, WCS, as well as a data collection cataloging services and metadata services. In this poster presentation, an overview of how Siphon accesses these services will be presented, and use cases of each service will be presented in hopes of expanding users horizons beyond simple index based data access.
