Weather drives about 50% of home energy use. Studies show that each month consumers spend less than one minute per month on their utility bill, but are spending 40-plus minutes per month on their WeatherBug mobile app. Can high consumer engagement on weather be leveraged for higher awareness and engagement on home energy use?

This session will present a case study on what happened when the WeatherBug Home energy efficiency program was integrated into the popular WeatherBug app, which reaches more than 10 million consumers each month. We will unveil the results of linking weather to home energy use by showing the increase in consumer engagement and response to various WeatherBug Home energy efficiency offerings such as the WeatherBug ScoreCard which teaches consumers about their energy use and offers guidance on how to reduce energy.
