The Department of Defense (DoD) has a Space Based Environmental Monitoring (SBEM) mission key to global military operations. The Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) provides visible and infrared cloud cover and other specialized meteorological, oceanographic, and solar-geophysical information to fulfill the needs of military and civilian forecasters world-wide. In this presentation, the DoD will discuss the status of the constellation and plans for carrying out the SBEM mission beyond the DMSP era.
