A more efficient use of meteorological services funding is to convert the many stovepiped systems into a single enterprise system that can serve everyone efficiently.  This presentation focuses on enterprise services of weather satellite systems and the characteristics of such a system.  Advantages include reduced manpower for operations, common hardware services, and common software maintenance service, including satellite operating systems and enterprise management services.  Another, less obvious area of savings is commonalities of science.  Although different satellites emphasize different products, there is an overlap of common products among many of these systems.  Common science techniques, with associated front ends customized to specific satellite sensors, can reduce maintenance of software and increase the impact across all systems when scientific improvements are made.
