UCARLive brings public and scientific talks, presentations, and colloquiums at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) to anyone with a computer and internet access. UCARLive is one of many tools that promotes free and open access to the hundreds of scientific and general audience presentations from the NSF-sponsored Laboratory. In 2016, the NCAR Explorer Series offered sold-out general public talks from scientists on relevant and timely topics. UCARLive expanded their reach through online broadcasts and subsequent archived postings on UCARConnect/YouTube. The outcome of these and other ongoing broadcasts from NCAR: globally accessible open access geoscience for learners interested in the field. UCARLive lives within UCARConnect – an online portal created in 2014 that brings public, secondary, and postsecondary communities together around the atmospheric sciences and related fields. Designed to foster multiple community voices, UCARConnect shares resources from NCAR, the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) comprised of 109 North American Universities, and other reputable voices. Through regular features, videos, an online Digital Learning Library, career resources, and more, UCARConnect connects a thriving Earth science community to free educationally rich resources, learning opportunities, and stories of science innovation in the atmospheric sciences as illustrated through 2016’s NCAR Explorer Series.
