How Surfers Can Help the Meteorological Community

Surfline/Wavetrak, Inc. was founded in 1985 and initially strived to provide surf reports and forecasts primarily to the surfing population in Southern California. The company has since grown into a global suite of operational marine observation and forecast products under the entities of Buoyweather, FishTrack, and Surfline. The goal of this presentation is to provide the meteorological community with an overview of these products that include, but are not limited to, Surfline’s rapidly expanding HD web camera network and associated syndication efforts, nearshore wave models, decision support services, weather editorial, and historical data. In addition, a brief overview of various collaborations with academia and the public sector will be discussed.
