Annual precipitation of Kochi prefecture is about 2500 mm and is the most in Japan. Such value is yielded by heavy rain caused by isolated thunderstorm and organized convective systems, e.g., quasi-linear rainband. Sometimes heavy rain is warm rain without lightning. For example, the linear rainband caused by Typhoon ‘Nakri’ in August 2014 yielded heavy rain around Kochi city but the lightning did not occur in the south side portion of the rainband whereas it frequently occurred in the north side portion.

The present study aims to classify hydrometeor in the convective cell and clarify the difference in hydrometeor distribution of the convective cell. We use two polarimetric Doppler radars for fuzzy logic hydrometeor classification.
