GOES-R Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI): The Next Generation of Geostationary Imager Weather and Environmental Products

The launch of GOES-R ushers in a new era in U.S. geostationary weather and environmental observations, led by the Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI).  The sixteen channels, improved spatial and temporal resolution, and unprecedented operational flexibility will significantly enhance the current products and provide many new ones.  This presentation will provide an overview of the instrument, its operation, and the products that will soon be available to the user community.  The time for simulation is past – get ready for real data.
