The Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS) is one of the instruments aboard the joint National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (S-NPP) satellite. The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) JPSS-1 satellite set to launch in 2017 will also carry an OMPS instrument. This presentation will outline the major differences between the S-NPP and JPSS-1 OMPS instruments as well as highlight algorithm updates that were made to utilize new capabilities of JPSS-1 OMPS. Examples will be given on the effects these changes have on the downstream data products and what benefits users can expect to receive from these upgrades.
