Atmospheric scientists continue to research and report changes in both global and local climate. This has become far more than an issue of scientific interest, exciting political, economic and social debate and repercussions. Such reaction has amplified the already challenging task of analyzing and communicating such data and impacts, both current and projected. Jeff Renner served as Chief Meteorologist for Seattle-based KING Television for thirty eight years, and reported on the issues of climate change on both a daily basis and in long-form television documentaries. His work has taken him from the White House to the Vatican, and from laboratories to the depths of Puget Sound. He’ll share some of his approaches and perspectives. In particular, his experience on the foundation of the public debate, how to engage public attention, and how to optimize the working relationship between scientists and the news media
