Abstract Submission to: Date Serving Decision Makers

At the heart of the NWS’ Weather Ready Nation Roadmap v2.0 is providing consistent products and services to partners and users in order for them to receive the same message from any NWS office that is contacted whether by phone, e-mail, Internet sites (including social media) or LIVE briefings.

This presentation will highlight real life experiences with decision makers when accessing NWS products for enhanced decision support using StormCenter’s GeoCollaborate® technology that places all participants on the same map at the same time for a unified communications and collaboration environment. This technology is being used operationally by the Fleet Response Working Group, a joint effort of the All Hazards Consortium, many states and the utility sectors.

Multiple private and public sector organizations and agencies were accessing GeoCollaborate® for a unified approach to improving situational awareness and fleet movement coordination. Several questions were raised about the information being presented in geospatial format by NWS and lack of information available in geospatial format. Those questions will be presented along with recommended solutions to improve the delivery of consistent information from the nation’s authoritative source for weather and environmental intelligence.
