Before joining the National Science Foundation as the Head of the Atmospheric Sciences Section, Dr. Harr was a Professor of Meteorology at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. During his academic and research career, Pat specialized in tropical meteorology, tropical cyclones, tropical-midlatitude interactions, and synoptic-dynamic meteorology. He served as the lead investigator on several large international field campaigns. In a variety of capacities, he has served the World Meteorological Organization, World Weather Research Program. For the American Meteorological Society, Pat has been Editor of Monthly Weather Review for 7 years and was Chair of the AMS Committee on Hurricanes and Tropical Meteorology for 6 years. Pat is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society.
