Mr. Tallia is the Chief for the Weather, Space Services and Research Section, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of General Counsel, U.S. Department of Commerce. In this capacity, Mr. Tallia manages a staff of attorneys and related professional staff that provides legal services to the National Weather Service, the National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service, and the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research, including the U.S. Climate Science Program. The section is also responsible for providing advice and counsel on environmental compliance and safety matters. Mr. Tallia has discreet responsibility for advising NOAA’s commercial remote sensing licensing and enforcement program. Mr. Tallia’s prior positions include counsel to the National Ocean Service, NOAA. He was in private legal practice before his career at NOAA. Mr. Tallia earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Richmond with honors, and a Juris Doctorate from the Catholic University of America. He is a member of both the Maryland and Washington, D.C. bars and several professional societies and has presented papers at national and international meetings.
